Job Summary and Qualifications

The Licensed Practical Nurse LP{N delivers high quality, patient-centered care by performing a variety of delegated basic patient care services. In collaboration with the RN and other members of the care team, the LPN provides individualized, comprehensive care consistent with the scope and standards of the specialty.

What will you do in this role:

• Gives direct patient care based on knowledge of principles and practice of licensed practical nurse.

• Assumes duties of medication nurse capably and with full knowledge of actions and untoward effects of medication being dispensed

• Performs treatments prescribed by physician and/or delegated by registered nurse

• Observes, records, and reports to the registered nurse the patient’s symptoms, reactions and progress

• Assists in patient education, rehabilitation, and maintenance of health

• Assists other health care personnel

• Assists patients with all activities of daily living including but not limited to the bathing, positioning, range of motion, eliminating and ambulation

• Floats to other units as needed

• Functions as preceptor for new employees and students

What qualifications will you need:

• Current State of Indiana LPN license or recent graduate of an accredited Nursing program

• Must be BLS certified

• Demonstrated proficiency in basic nursing skills including phlebotomy.

• Prior healthcare experience preferred.
