JOB REQUIREMENTS: Under the direction of the Health & Wellness Director, and in accordance with the policies of the Stevens Point Area YMCA, the Silver Sneakers Instructor will be responsible for conducting Silver Sneakers classes. PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS Must possess fitness skills and knowledge necessary to fulfill a fitness class leadership role through teaching, experience or extensive fitness participation. Must be able to perform physical functions necessary to program instruction, including but not limited to squatting, bending, kneeling, and spotting program participants. Passion for wellness, an understanding of individual challenges with achieving wellness goals, and strong relationship-building skills. You must be able to effectively present information and respond to inquiries at an individual or small group level. Other critical competencies include initiative, motivational and problem-solving skills, and the ability to maintain confidentiality. You must exhibit the Y core values of respect, responsibility, honesty and caring. Certifications: CPR/AED and First Aid certification is required within 2 months of employment. Silver Sneakers certification preferred. SCHEDULE Variety of shifts available. WAGE Starting at \$11.64 per hour. Includes fully-paid YMCA adult membership. Observe participants and inform them of corrective measures necessary for skill improvement. Plan routines, choose appropriate music, and choose different movements for each set of muscles, depending on participants\' capabilities and limitations. Offer alternatives during classes to accommodate different levels of fitness. Monitor participants\' progress and adapt programs as needed.
