Early Voting Elections Inspector
- $15.00/ Hour
- This part-time, temporary position allows for a maximum of 1,000 hours per calendar year. It does not include any benefits.
Duties:
- Assists the Elections Administrator and/or Elections Coordinator with countywide early voting sites that consist of 9 days or more.
- Prepares signage, materials and equipment before polls open.
- Greets and checks in voters.
- Processes voters, resolving status flags usually due to incomplete/outdated voter registration information.
- Serves as a liaison for challenges.
- Checks and enters information in the ePollbook.
- Issues ballots to voters, including provisional ballots when necessary.
- Assists voters, including individuals with disabilities.
- Facilitates curbside voting for voters who need that option.
- Addresses tabulator issues, remaining at least 10 feet from it when in use.
- Assists in providing a replacement ballot when a voter surrenders their spoiled ballot.
- May be responsible for closing the polls for early voting results the night of the election, including generating the total tapes; verifying poll books, statement of votes and envelopes; and securing ballot containers, poll books and envelopes.

Minimum Requirements:
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
- Must be a qualified and registered elector of the State of Michigan. Must be a registered voter in Michigan if 18+ years of age.
- Individuals aged 16-17 must be a Michigan resident.
- Employees are subject to a background check; may not have a felony or election crime conviction.
- May not be an election challenger, a candidate, a member of a candidate's immediate family, or a member of the local board of canvassers.
- Due to state statue, in order to ensure balanced staffing, employees in this position must declare a political party affiliation that is recognized by the state; may not be independent.
Desired:
Experience working as an election inspector in a polling precinct or absent voter counting board.
