What You'll Do as a Maintenance Trades Assistant:

  • Minor adjustments and repairs to HVAC, plumbing, electrical, waste systems, architectural and structural building components, doors, windows, floor systems, light carpentry, and roof systems.

  • Cleaning and maintaining of mechanical rooms.

  • Preventative maintenance functions and minor repairs, including changing filters, cleaning cooling towers, heating, and cooling coils, and changing fluorescent and other light bulbs.

  • Manufacture, repair, and installation of screens and glass.

  • Sign maintenance to include inspections, replacement (setting/affixing) and painting.

  • Ensure all paperwork is completed.

Work involves a variety of the following duties:

  • Replacing electrical receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures, and motors

  • Using plaster or compound to patch minor holes and cracks in walls and ceilings

  • Repairing or replacing sinks, water coolers, and toilets

  • Painting structures and equipment

  • Repairing or replacing concrete floors, steps, and sidewalk

  • Replacing damaged paneling and floor tiles

  • Hanging doors and installing door locks

  • Replacing broken window panes

  • Performing general maintenance on equipment and machinery

  • Other duties as assigned such as the movement or rearrangement of office furniture.

  • Operates a company-owned vehicle (and cellular telephone) to transport self and others in performance of assigned duties; performs operator maintenance as required.

  • Can be utilized by electricians or mechanics if necessary.

What You'll Need to Be Successful:

  • High school diploma or GED.

  • Must have the ability to perform the assigned duties.

  • Prior facility maintenance experience is preferred.

  • Able to effectively speak, read, and write the English language.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, and climb ladders. Frequently required to kneel, squat, bend, and reach.

  • Require to be able to lift 50lbs up to 10 times per day.

  • Ability to perform a variety of maintenance tasks.

  • Knowledge of all maintenance trades in a maintenance environment (prior government contractor experience preferred).

  • Ability to use hand tools and power tools required for installation, maintenance, and repair.

  • Must have the ability to successfully complete all applicable training modules assigned.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to pass criminal, drug, and driving screening.

  • Exposure to dirt, dust, loud noise, and outside weather conditions.

  • Ability to work any time or day of the week, including weekends and holidays.

  • Possess valid driver’s license and maintain good driving record.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a NACI clearance and DBIDS.
