Job Description:

  • The Engineering Technician analyzes non-conformances on cable builds and determine correct path to bring material into conformance. They will collect quality data for analysis and participate in improvement activities. They work on assignments requiring judgement and initiative. They may act as mentor to peers, and as guide to assemblers and mfg technicians. They will actively work with Manufacturing Process Engineers to improve reliability and efficiency on the cable harness floor. Engineering Technicians may build cables part time, and require all the skill and training of a mfg technician as well.

Essential Functions:

  • Revise processes to meet design and workmanship requirements on non-conforming cables

  • Evaluate tooling needs and availability

  • Assists Cable manufacturing’s First Time Build team in building initial unit builds and prototype cable assemblies

  • Provide input on Engineering Changes Requests

  • Determine root cause of failures and drive corrective actions

  • Collects quality related data and offers corrective action(s) to help eliminate future defects from occurring

  • Participates in process improvement activities

  • Support OT (nights, weekends, extended hours) as needed to meet schedule requirements

  • Ensures company financial goals are met through timely completion of processes, projects, and other initiatives

  • Other responsibilities as assigned by management

Qualifications:

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Demonstrated ability to comprehend schematics, wire lists, wire diagrams, and blueprints.

  • Ability and qualifications to build cable harnesses to drawing and workmanship requirements

  • Extensive knowledge of cable manufacturing techniques and IPC/WHMA-A-620, class 3 workmanship requirements.

  • Advanced technical and operational knowledge and experience of manufacturing of highly technical devices.

  • Experience with SAP ME, SAP ECC and Teamcenter.

  • Due to the nature of our work, this position may require the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense security clearance.
