US Foods Manager II Financial Reporting (Hybrid: Onsite and Remote Work) in Rosemont, Illinois

The Manager II Financial Reporting acts as lead preparer for the Company’s periodic SEC filings (Form 10-K, 10-Q and other SEC filings) and main contact with the Company’s external auditors. The role requires an understanding of regulatory filing requirements and application of knowledge to the Company’s financial statements, footnote disclosures, Management Discussion & Analysis, earnings release and other areas of Financial Reporting. Additionally, this role will assist with technical accounting research, cash flow, acquisition analyses, goodwill valuation, debt transaction accounting and overall financial review. Maintains an effective financial control environment and provides financial reporting and analysis for both internal and external use.

This position has been segmented as Hybrid meaning there is a combination of onsite work three days per week and the rest remote.

Responsibilities:

  • Acts as lead preparer of periodic external filings (Form 10-K, 10-Q and other SEC filings) including schedules and supporting documentation for accuracy and ensures completeness of financial statements and other information required in external filings including XBRL compliance

  • Assist with monitoring and identifying evolving accounting guidance, providing US GAAP interpretation and preparing technical memorandums that document issues in a clear, logical and comprehensive manner

  • Compile quarterly Analytical Deck with other members of the Controllers’ group

  • Work closely with Investor Relations, Accounting and Senior Management in the preparation and tie-out of supporting materials

  • Prepare ad hoc business analyses for Senior Management

  • Routine communication with supervisors related to SEC filings, financial close and deliverables

  • Review journal entries and reconciliations and provide feedback and training to Senior Accountant supporting this role

  • Other duties as assigned by manager

Supervision:

  • Sr Accountant, Financial Reporting

Relationships:

  • Internal: Controller’s Team, Finance, ELT, Internal Audit, other Support Office Function Leaders

  • External: Auditors and Consultants

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 6 years of progressive experience in financial reporting, OR 4 years of progressive experience in financial reporting with an MBA or MA in Accounting or Finance

  • 1 year of people leadership experience

  • Deep working knowledge of accounting principles and practices (GAAP), external/SEC reporting and internal controls commensurate with an SEC registrant and related knowledge

  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office tools

  • Prioritization/Organization/Multi-Tasking – Able to organize their own work and deadlines as well as assist others with their planning. Able to prioritize activities in a multi-tasked environment required.

  • Attention to Detail - Regularly provides work that is accurate, thorough and consistent. Reviews work of others for accuracy

  • Communications - Strong Verbal & Written communications to a variety of audiences

  • Analytical - Strong analytical skills. Analyzes complex information

  • Problem Solving - Able to make accurate decisions and solve problems, many of which are complex, with little direction

  • Independent Thinking - Works independently on most assignments. Brings forward ideas for improvement

  • Team Participation - Collaborates well with team members and other work associates. Will lead the team and others

  • People Leadership – Assigns and oversees work of team members. Provides coaching and feedback to grow team members. Is a positive role model by setting examples for integrity, fairness and respect

  • Up to 10% travel.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance Required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MA or MBA

  • CPA

  • Expertise with Workivia, PeopleSoft, Blackline financial reporting systems

  • Big 4 firm experience
