THE POSITION

The State Correctional Institution at Camp Hill, under the Department of Corrections, is actively looking for an enthusiastic, innovative, and highly organized individual to become a valuable member of our team in the role of Social Worker 2. Join us in making a positive impact on the lives of those within our correctional facility by utilizing your skills and passion for helping others.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Social Worker employed by the Department of Corrections (DOC), the role involves establishing and maintaining connections with a variety of DOC and community personnel to coordinate the provision of tailored services to meet specific needs. A significant and fulfilling aspect of the job is working one-on-one with inmates. This allows the Social Worker to witness firsthand the inmates' active involvement in the process of change. The Social Worker will be tasked with determining the appropriate services, programs, and treatments required by the inmates under their care. Additionally, they will be responsible for conducting group or individual counseling sessions as part of reentry and discharge initiatives. Another crucial aspect of the role is preparing detailed written reports on an inmate's progress and adjustment during their time in the institution. These reports will include recommendations from staff members for courts, parole boards, and other relevant authorities. Managing complex cases involving inmates who may have interactions with the mental health system and the correctional environment is also part of the job. The Social Worker will need to make independent decisions to provide guidance, support, and strategic planning for inmates based on a comprehensive understanding of various systems and their impact on the overall success of the individuals under their care.

If you have the required experience as indicated below and wish to explore a rewarding career that offers the opportunity to share your skills while earning a great salary and benefits, the PA Department of Corrections wants to hear from you!
