The University of Miami has an exciting opportunity for an Ophthalmic Imager 1, in the Department of Research, for Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.

The Ophthalmic Imager 1 (OI1) is competent in the theory, principles, and practice of eye care. The position documents in the EMR system and performs ocular diagnostic testing using specialized instrumentation in compliance with department standards.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Performs supervised ocular diagnostic testing using specialty-specific imaging instruments, documents procedures, and uploads images into the electronic medical record/PACS platform.

  • Provides patient-centric care.

  • Adheres to University of Miami policies, standards, and values.

  • Complies with regulations and maintains patient confidentiality.

  • Follows best practices of patient safety, hand hygiene, and infection control.

  • Completes University of Miami mandatory in-services and online training.

  • Attends educational courses for ophthalmic personnel when assigned.

  • Demonstrates high quality of work through accuracy, timeliness, professionalism, and thoroughness.

  • Meets daily productivity goals.

  • Ensures all equipment is calibrated, and instrumentation is in proper working order.

  • Organizes and stocks rooms for daily clinical activities.

  • Travels to satellite eye centers when necessary.

  • Works evenings and weekends as needed.

  • Performs organizational duties as assigned.

  • Performs diagnostic testing including but not limited to the below.

  • Color fundus photography

  • Fluorescein angiography

  • ICG (Indocyanine Green) angiography

  • Optical coherence tomography

  • Automated perimetry

  • Slit lamp photography

  • External photography

  • Ocular motility photography

CORE QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

High School diploma or equivalent

Experience:

1 year of relevant experience

  • Identifies imaging instruments and modalities based on diagnosis.

  • Knowledgeable in computer software for all imaging modalities.

  • Demonstrates core knowledge of standardized imaging protocols based on diagnosis.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Patient safety is a top priority.
