UL, LLC Senior Business Development Manager in Northbrook, Illinois

The Senior Business Development Manager will lead sales, business development and go-to-market strategy for this new initiative in our Smart Building Ecosystem. Will develop strategies with sales managers to generate revenue growth and achieve bookings goals. Respond effectively to urgent and sensitive customer issues. Assists industry leadership in the development of industry account strategies, goals and plans with a focus on driving a foundation for industry growth for UL. Focus will be on customer satisfaction, account growth and expansion of services provided, and sustaining customer loyalty for a group of key customers. Works with key customers to understand emerging needs of organization. Assist in developing strategic business planning activities including development of geographic and industry sector expansion initiatives, corporate program evaluations and strategic business issues investigations to ensure maximum market effectiveness.

  • This job is 100% remote and requires domestic and international travel on a regular basis

  • Lead the development of strategic accounts, customer, and partner relationships and promote different smart building ecosystem offerings like SPIRE and Smart Systems Rating

  • Drive the development of business/marketing analyses, company acquisition analyses and plans pertinent to UL’s global and industry sector expansion within assigned zone

  • Assist in developing candidate strategies and objectives for the company’s global strategic and global objectives plans

  • Direct the research of strategic intelligence within assigned areas and prepare recommendations for use in the development of corporate objectives. Conduct market/business research to develop forecasts of their future impact on the corporation’s activities.

  • Direct and develop specific information on pending business proposals and related issues to be included in reports to senior management

  • Provide guidance and assistance to UL subsidiaries and affiliates in assisting in developing and presenting business cases for current business expansion and new program development

  • Assist in developing departmental budget to support planned programs of business development, research and analysis, and manages expenditures to be within budget limitations.

  • Build and manage a team of business development and sales personnel over time

  • Manage the performance of direct reports by assisting in defining accountabilities, establishing performance objectives, providing feedback and guidance, and ensuring that all policies are understood and adhered to

  • Collaborate with Global and Strategic Account

  • Total Rewards: The salary range for this position is $165,000. - $190,000. and is based upon years of experience that is commensurate with the level of the position.

  • All employees at UL Solutions are eligible for annual bonus compensation. The target for this position is 20% of the base salary offered. Employees are eligible for health benefits such as medical, dental and vision; wellness benefits such as mental & financial health; and retirement savings (401K) commensurate with the standard rewards offered in each individual location or country, for the relevant position level.

  • We also provide employees with paid time off including vacation (15 days), holiday including floating holidays (12 days) and sick time off (72 hours).

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business Administration or a related discipline

  • 10+ years of experience in corporate business development, sales, and product management

  • Experience with smart buildings and systems/technologies associated with buildings

  • Deep understanding of the buildings industry

  • Established industry contacts with end-customers, consultants, OEMs and market influencers

  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate, acquire and manage high value customer accounts

  • Ability to sell “at the highest level” with a compelling value-add strategy approach
