Lifesprk Hospice Volunteer in Minneapolis, Minnesota

Description Position at Lifespark The Hospice Volunteer provides patient companionship and support services according to his/her experience and training and in compliance with organization policies. Position Functions and Responsibilities Serves as an integral member of the interdisciplinary group amid various settings: patient homes; assisted living, memory care or skilled nursing facilities; inpatient hospitals; hospice-homes. May include administrative or office duties. Provide emotional support or practical assistance to enhance the comfort and quality of life for patients and families/caregivers, which may include: reading; card games; letter-writing; listening to music; light housekeeping; meal preparation or errands, as requested. May provide respite to allow families/caregivers to take time away from hospice patient. Maintains open communication and completes documentation of visits, per policy. May attend interdisciplinary group meetings, as appropriate. Qualifications Experienced individual, supportive of the hospice concept, comfortable with his/her own mortality and spirituality and willing to serve others in a volunteer capacity. Successful completion of the hospice's volunteer training and orientation program; annual training. Previous volunteer experience preferred. Ability to work within the interdisciplinary group and uphold Lifesprk policies and procedures. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and appropriate boundaries, in accordance with policies. Must pass a MVR check based on Lifespark company policy
