Ingham Intermediate School District Speech Language Pathologist in Mason, Michigan

Under the direct supervision of the administrator, and in accordance with the established policies and procedures of the Ingham Intermediate School District, the Speech Language Pathologist is responsible for providing supportive services for eligible students enrolled in regular, vocational or special education programs.  The Speech Language Pathologist will focus on student evaluation, provision of direct and indirect therapy services and collaborative consultation with staff, parents, agency personnel and administrators.

  • Facilitates teachers and parents in observing, describing and referring suspected speech and language impairments with students.
  • Provides comprehensive speech and language evaluation of students referred for suspected speech and language impairments through the IEP Evaluation Review process.
  • Serves as a member or coordinator of the Multidisciplinary Evaluation Team to provide and interpret the assessment of speech and language skills in determining appropriate placement in special education programs/services for eligible students.
  • Provides speech and language therapy services and periodic reporting of student progress, as determined by the Individualized Education Program team, to eligible students in regular, vocational or special education programs.
  • Provides consultation to staff and services to non-eligible students through an MTSS model of supporting all students, when applicable.
  • Coordinates with and provides consultative services to general education teachers, parents and other special education staff working with eligible students.
  • Provides information and inservice regarding speech and language development, impairments, programs and services for teachers and parents.
  • Coordinates with community agencies and resources regarding speech and hearing information that will support the family, child and school.
  • Participates in or develops an IEP for each eligible student on an annual basis.
  • Maintains records as required for Medicaid billing.
  • Completes and maintains documentation of services provided in accordance with district policies and procedures.
  • Assumes such other related responsibilities as assigned.
