Description

We are seeking a Real Estate Controller to join our team in Malibu, California. This role will play a significant role in managing the financial aspects of our real estate portfolio and construction projects. The Controller will ensure accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in financial reporting and analysis.

Responsibilities:

• Manage the financial aspects of our real estate portfolio and large construction project

• Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for the real estate portfolio and construction projects

• Develop and manage budgets and forecasts for real estate properties and construction projects

• Monitor cash flow and funding requirements for real estate and construction activities

• Implement and maintain accounting policies and procedures specific to construction projects

• Conduct detailed financial analysis of real estate properties and construction projects

• Ensure compliance with all tax regulations and reporting requirements related to real estate and construction activities

• Establish and maintain robust internal controls and procedures for real estate and construction accounting processes

• Coordinate external audits of real estate properties and construction projects

• Lead and mentor a team of accounting professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Possess a minimum of 5-7+ years of experience in a Controller role or similar capacity

• Great communication skills both written and verbal is essential

• Proficient in using Accounting Software Systems for managing financial data

• Demonstrated experience in managing Accounting Functions such as budgeting, auditing, and financial forecasting

• Proficient in handling Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) to ensure smooth financial operations

• Experience in managing Budget Processes, including planning, tracking, and reporting

• Knowledge of Commercial Real Estate industry would be advantageous

• Ability to prepare and analyze Financial Statements, including balance sheets, income and cash flow statements

• Must adhere to ethical standards and comply with all financial regulations and laws

• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders

• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines without compromising on work quality

• Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide a team

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field is required; a Master’s degree or CPA certification would be an advantage but NOT required
