Sandblasting Laborer

  • Location: Latrobe, Pennsylvania
  • Schedule: Monday -- Friday, 5:00 AM -- 2:30 PM, 2:30 PM -- 11:00 PM, Employees will work daylight shift for 3 weeks and 1 week afternoon shift.

What will you be doing?

As a Sandblasting Laborer, you will be responsible for preparing surfaces for various coatings, cleaning equipment, and assisting in the operation of sandblasting machinery. Your role will be crucial in ensuring that surfaces are adequately prepared for painting, coating, or refurbishment projects. Attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, being able to work independently & efficiency in completing tasks will be essential for success in this role.

  •  Surface Preparation: Utilize sandblasting equipment to remove rust, old paint, dirt, and other debris from surfaces such as metal, concrete, wood, or masonry.
  •  Equipment Setup and Maintenance: Assist in the setup, calibration, and maintenance of sandblasting equipment including compressors, nozzles, hoses, and abrasive materials to ensure optimal performance and safety.
  •  Safety Compliance: Adhere strictly to safety procedures and guidelines to prevent accidents, injuries, and exposure to hazardous materials. This includes wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as helmet, forced air respirators, blasting suit and gloves.
  •  Material Handling: Handle parts to be blasted using fork truck.  Managing the positioning and manipulation of parts to ensure they can be blasted efficiently and safely.
  •  Quality Control: Inspect surfaces before and after sandblasting to ensure thorough cleaning and proper preparation for coating or painting. Report any defects or issues to supervisors for further evaluation.
  •  Team Collaboration: Work closely with team members, including painters, supervisors, and other laborers, to coordinate workflow, prioritize tasks, and meet project deadlines.
  •  Cleanup and Maintenance: Clean work areas, equipment, and tools after each use to maintain a safe and organized workspace. Perform routine maintenance tasks on sandblasting equipment to keep it in good working condition.
  • Documentation: Keep accurate records of work performed, including surface preparation methods, materials used, and any issues encountered during the sandblasting process.
  •  Training and Development: Participate in training sessions and workshops to enhance skills and stay updated on best practices, new equipment, and safety regulations related to sandblasting.

*Interested candidates must meet the following requirements for consideration:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in sandblasting or related field preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of sandblasting equipment, materials, and techniques.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects and work in physically demanding conditions including dusty, hot and cold temperatures.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Willingness to adhere to safety protocols and follow instructions from supervisors.
