Position Data:
Title: Housing Support Specialist
Grade: 6 Exempt: _ Non-exempt: X_
Reports to: __ Homelessness Services Manager
Or ____ Housing Services ManagerBasic Function or Position Summary:
Assist Housing Counselors by verifying eligibility for housing services, supporting customers with information on housing options, and ensuring customer files are in compliance with contractual requirements. Hour per week 35: Monday - Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm. Salary $17.55/hourly
Security Clearance:

Requirements
Position Responsibilities and Specific Duties:
Assist Housing Counselors with creating individualized housing plans for customers, which includes
Analysis of current situation
Affordability assessment
Understanding of customer’s goals
Determine eligibility for rental subsidy and assistance programs
Support customers in housing searches
Assist with providing educational workshops on responsible tenancy
Assist Housing Counselors with basic budgeting activities Maintain timely and accurate documentation of all customer service activity, and ensure that customer records are complete, accurate, and in compliance with contractual requirements.
Maintain knowledge and complies with regulations, policies and procedures.
Maintain knowledge of local resources and refer customers to services and agencies that will support customer’s goals
Verify customer contractual eligibility for services
Maintain customer contacts in accordance with assigned contractual and agency expectations
Calculate rental subsidy amounts
Maintain wait lists, as needed, within assigned services
As required by regulation or contract, perform electronic background checks and income verification of customers
Compilation and data accuracy checks for submission of reports in assigned contractual areas
Promotes agency mission.
Maintains confidentiality and complies with the code of ethics.
Maintains consistent professional customer service.
Job performance incorporates integrated service delivery model while promoting self-sufficiency.

A. Internal: Housing & Community Development Staff and Managers; Navigators; Housing Counselors B. External: Department of Social Services case workers, other non-profit direct service workers.Supervisory Scope:

Organizational Responsibilities:
Attend Staff Development days & assigned trainings
Attend all required meetings
Participation in COI strategic planning, community needs assessment, and continuous quality improvement
Knowledge, Skills Required:
Associate’s degree required, Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Minimum of one year of work experience in human, social or customer services required.
Strong interpersonal, communication and customer relations skills
Strong computer skills, including word processing, data entry and spreadsheet in a windows environment
Ability to develop and maintain & engage in positive relationships with people from various backgrounds
Bilingual preferred
Special Requirements, if any:
Within one year, complete Financial Social Work training
Must be able to provide consistent even tempered customer service at all times
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Mandated reporter
Works compassionately with a diverse population
Experience navigating community programs
