JOB DESCRIPTION AND WORKER CHARACTERISTICS

Non-commissioned officer appointed by the Highland County Sheriff as a Communications Officer and is a classified civil servant (O. A. C. 123:1 5) to carry out the duties and policy of the Sheriff's Office as a dispatcher, and carry out the lawful duty or order of the Sheriff or appointed Supervisor.

 

JOB DUTIES

Performs duties that of a dispatcher; Handles walk-in complaints and telephone calls from the general public that relate to crime reporting, complaints, and providing general law enforcement information; Operates the 911 Emergency System handling emergency calls for Fire/EMS and/or Law Enforcement response; Operates Law Enforcement Radio, Power 911/CAD System, and LEADS equipment; Operates Auxiliary Aids and Service System for the hearing impaired; Monitors and documents daily Sheriff's Office's operations and radio traffic; Communicates with other agencies
