JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

A full-time Human Research Technologist is being sought to work on a newly funded grant focused on promoting cultural strengths in Latine youth and their primary caregivers.

This position will be part of the DREAM (Dismantling Racial inEquities Around Mental Health) Lab, directed by Dr. Chardée Galán, at Penn State and will work out of the Parents and Children Together (PACT) lab space in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

The Human Research Technologist will be responsible for coordinating the administration of the grant’s goals through developing and testing interventions.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Recruit, screen, and schedule families for studies/testing

  • Conduct study assessments

  • Maintain and manage datasets and detailed documentation; monitor data

  • Assist with preparation of research protocols and materials (e.g., participant forms and questionnaires); assist in ordering lab supplies when needed

  • Transcribe and code focus groups, interviews, and observational data

  • Train and oversee several lab team members (student researchers and part-time staff)

    This position requires a flexible schedule to include evenings and weekends, primarily to accommodate the availability of participating families.

    Education and Experience: This position will be filled as a Human Research Technologist – Social Sciences at the level of Advanced Professional, which requires a Bachelor’s degree and three years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferably, the years of relevant experience will come from one or more of the following fields (or another related field): psychology, social work, human development, or education.

    Other Required Qualifications:

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish

  • Experience with social science research or professional experience working with children and families

  • Excellent organization skills with the ability to manage schedules

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and SPSS

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, attention to detail, and time management skills

  • Ability to take on leadership for assigned work-related tasks, both independently and as part of a team

This is a limited-term appointment, funded for one year from the date of hire with an excellent possibility of re-funding.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$42,100.00 - $61,000.00
