Universal Health Services Intake & Admissions Manager in GRAND RAPIDS, Michigan

Responsibilities

Forest View Hospital, located just seven miles southeast of downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan, is a private 108 bed psychiatric facility that serves children, adolescents and adults. We are licensed by the State of Michigan, fully accredited by The Joint Commission and we bring more than 45 years of experience to the evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of behavioral health problems. As a part of our continued success and growth, we are seeking qualified applicants for an Intake Manager (RN or LMSW) to join our Assessment and Referral Center.

Working in collaboration with the CNO, the Intake Manager will provide guidance and support to the team in the provision of patient access to care and behavioral health assessment services, including call management, clinical evaluations, crisis intervention, admissions, and referrals consistent with departmental policy and procedures.

Key Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Directs day-to-day department operations and admissions process

  • Directs the screening of potential patients for admission into the hospital and initiates the integrated assessment process

  • Interviews and hires new Intake/Admissions candidates; Leads the onboarding and training process for new Intake/Admissions employees

  • Ensures the staff schedule and configuration meet the needs and demands of the hospital and patients served.

  • Ensures the assessments and work assignments are evenly distributed among the nursing staff.

  • Monitors all assessment appointments/informational calls 24 hours a day and prepares appropriate forms.

  • Plans, coordinates, and evaluates direct and indirect facility assessments and patient admissions.

  • Ensures that all vital patient assessment information is referred accurately to the attending physicians, and that patient historical information obtained is complete to facilitate an accurate determination for the appropriate level of care

  • Prepares reports to communicate pertinent census information, referral sources, pending admissions and follow-up action pending admissions, pending discharges and nature of discharge.

  • Provides guidance to community resources available to person inappropriate or unavailable for admission but who are requiring further guidance and referrals.

  • Assure patient’s rights are upheld in compliance with all state and federal regulations.

  • Provides services to current referral sources to assure their satisfaction and continued associations.

  • Ensure all patient, family, and referral complaints are promptly handled.

  • Evaluates performance and provides corrective coaching as needed to ensure higher levels of engagement and patient care.

  • Stays apprised of federal and state regulations governing capacity, billing, and reimbursement, including Medicaid and Medicare guidelines, as well as Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) standards

    Qualifications

  • RN or Master’s Degree in a mental health discipline with licensure in the state of Michigan.

  • 1-2 years of admissions and referral experience in a psychiatric or mental health setting preferred.

  • Minimum of three to five years experience in supervision or clinical leadership strongly preferred.
