St. Luke's University Health Network Volunteer Engagement Specialist, Anderson & Monroe Campuses in Easton, Pennsylvania

The Volunteer Engagement Specialist is responsible for developing and managing a quality volunteer program and coordinating the daily functions of Volunteer Services at their assigned campus(es).

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with the Network Director in identifying hospital needs for volunteers and related support

  • Coordinates the efforts of the volunteers with various departments acting as an internal consultant to design new programs and address volunteer issues

  • Recruits, screens, interviews, selects, assigns and evaluates adult and student volunteers.

  • Provides an orientation for new volunteers, arranges appropriate training and introduces new volunteers to their assigned department on their first day

  • Oversees risk management of volunteers to ensure policies and procedures governing volunteers will be in compliance with health care industry laws and regulations

  • Counsels volunteers and provides corrective action when approved standards of performance are not met, notifying the Network Director when chronic or severe

  • Plans, organizes, and supervises all functions of the adult and student volunteers

  • Processes, organizes and maintains volunteer applications of accepted and current volunteers following established office protocol. This includes tracking completion of and maintaining proper documentation, including: Annual Essentials Newsletter, Confidentiality Statement, Background Checks, Health Screenings, Orientation Checklists, signed Assignment Guides

  • Provides recognition of service through awards, daily interaction and arranges for/collaborates with the development of the National Volunteer Week celebration. Arranges for/ awards the High School Student Scholarship award

  • Coordinates the organization and implementation of the Campus Volunteer appreciation events and promotes volunteer activities electronically or via the communication boards

PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:

Sitting for up to seven hours per day and three hours at a time. Frequently uses of fingers for writing and or word processing, twisting, and turning occasionally. Uses upper extremities to occasionally lift and carry items up to 20 lbs. Occasionally stoops/bends and reaches above shoulder level. Hearing as it relates to normal conversation. Seeing as it relates to general vision, near vision, peripheral vision and visual monotony.

EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s or Associate's Degree in Social Work, Human Resources Administration, Psychology or Education preferred or three years experience managing volunteers or employees in health care or related environment.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

Prior experience preferred in recruiting, interviewing, training and supervision of students/adults in volunteer program/setting. Strong organizational skills to develop and run programs. Requires ability to work independently and as a team member on multiple projects. Adept at computers. Experience in Word, Excel, Power Point, Publishing and Outlook preferred. Familiarity with a volunteer tracking program desirable.
