As MHC continues to grow, we have an opening for a Welder. The Welder is responsible for assembling fabricated components for truck equipment together using appropriate tools and high heat, performing all welding operations on dump truck bodies within specified parameters. MIG welds materials to join fabricated components for truck equipment on dump truckbodies using appropriate tools and welding equipment. Reads and interprets technical drawings, blueprints, and factory diagrams. Measures and cuts materials to specifications ensuring accuracy. Uses hand and power tools (including, welders, plasma cutters, saws, drills, sanders, files, and grinders) and available lifting equipment such as overhead cranes, jib hoists, jacks, and forklifts. Inspects grooves, angles, gap allowances, and related aspects of assembly to ensureconformance to specifications. Inspects finished work to ensure it meets specifications,is free of defects, and maintains structural integrity. Provides general shop support activities in support of welding projects, andassignments, assisting others when needed. Maintains a neat and orderly work area, performing all work assignments in accordancewith safety, security and business practice requirements, protocols, and policies. Performs other related duties as assigned. SAFETY-SENSITIVE This position has been designated as a safety-sensitive position. Qualifications Minimum of two years of hands-on experience and on the job training. MIG welding with sheet metal, vehicle, or mechanical experience is a plus. Must have and maintain the necessary tools to perform position responsibilities. Ability to read and interpret tape measures, technical drawings, blueprints, manuals, and factory diagrams. Must be available to work at heights, confined spaces, and various temperature conditions as required. Ability to work well and effectively communicate with others. Standing over 50% of the time while performing welding operations. Lift and carry various tools, welding equipment, and fabricated components up to 125 pounds. Push and pull tool carts, welders, and parts bins. Kneel, squat, and stoop 50% of the time while welding to reach underneath and on top of equipment. Climb up and down stairs and ladders up to 33% of the time to reach various heights while welding and climb on and off truck equipment.
