The Job: The Project Crew is responsible for installing and dismantling temporary and permanent exhibits.

This is a 40-hour/week, union-represented position (IBEW, AFL-CIO, Local #134) with regular hours Monday-Friday, 7:00am-3:30pm and occasional overtime.

Responsibilities

  • Assembles and dismantles permanent and temporary exhibits.

  • Loads and unloads trucks.

  • Reads and interprets schematics used for exhibit setup and takedown.

  • Operates equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks/stackers and manlifts.

  • Sets up and dismantles staging, risers, platforms, barricades, etc.

  • Participates on teams to discuss exhibit/museum related topics.

  • Moves/relocate equipment, furniture, exhibit units, etc.

  • Assists technicians and tradesmen when necessary

  • Assembles and disassembles equipment, carts, etc.

  • Operates hand tools.

  • Sets up rigging to move heavy objects.

  • Orders tools and equipment necessary to perform job.

  • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

  • Minimum of six months related experience.

  • High school diploma required.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

  • Must have minimal computer skills such as creating and responding to emails and web-based work order system.

  • Must be able to write routine reports and correspondence, track time spent on projects and work orders.

  • Proven ability to work in a team environment.

  • Must be able to work at heights – up to 60’ from the floor and regularly lift up to 60 lbs.

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.

  • Skilled to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

  • This role regularly requires standing and use hands to finger, handle, or feel as well as to reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.

  • Frequently required to move mechanical parts; high, precarious places and outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
