Public Safety HR Delivery Center Corrections Utility Plant Operator - SCI Camp Hill in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania

If you have experience in the operation of boilers at a utility plant and wish to explore a rewarding career that offers the opportunity to share your skills while earning a great salary and benefits, this is the job for you! The Department of Corrections, State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Camp Hill is seeking an energetic, motivated person with experience in the safe operation of an institution utility plant.  

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Corrections Utility Plant Operator, you will be responsible for the supervision of an inmate work crew and ensuring work is performed under safe operating procedures. You will maintain the efficient operation of three boilers that generate medium pressure steam that supplies heat and hot water for the institution's needs. Your duties will include cleaning, maintaining, and performing minor repairs to equipment, testing water chemistry, and inventorying treatment chemicals.

*Work Schedule and Additional Information: *

  • Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
  • Work hours include rotating shifts and days off.
    • 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM
    • 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM
    • 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM
  • This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Three years of experience in the operation, maintenance, and repair of a steam or hot water generating plant, or a steam and electric generating plant; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
