Public Safety HR Delivery Center Corrections Masonry Trade Instructor - SCI Camp Hill in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania

THE POSITION

Are you a highly energetic, enthusiastic, self-motivated individual with a passion for teaching? The Department of Corrections (DOC), State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Camp Hill is seeking a highly motivated masonry to join our team of professionals as a Corrections Masonry Trade Instructor.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Corrections Masonry Trade Instructor for the Department of Corrections, you will be responsible for the instruction of inmates in the practices, methods, and procedures of the masonry trade at a journeyman level by demonstration, explanation, and close supervision during training and work assignments.   You will be responsible for instructing inmates in the masonry trade using diagrams, charts, illustrations, manuals, and blueprints. You will be demonstrating and explaining the methods, procedures, materials, and tools used in the installation, construction, repair, inspection, and maintenance of masonry structures and surfaces to include walls, floors, doors, partitions, steps, foundation, ramps, walks, roads, curbs, chimneys, and storm drains. You will also be reviewing and inspecting work in progress and upon completion for adherence to standards of the masonry trade.   Interested in learning more? Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment (40-hour work week)
  • Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with paid lunch period.
  • This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
  • Salary:* *In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. Please note, selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $48,425.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

 

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Four years of experience in laying brick, blocks, and other types of building materials, and binding with mortar to construct or repair walls; or
  • Completion of an approved apprenticeship in the masonry trade; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes one year of journey level work in the masonry trade.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
