Job Description

A Caseworker 2 with the County of Northampton is responsible for providing a full range of social and case management services to County residents of all ages, through consumer-focused programs designed to maintain or improve the quality of life for individuals and their families. This position will function within Children, Youth, and Families (CYF) division of Human Services and will include working directly with consumers from a wide variety of backgrounds and circumstances to assist them in attaining an improved social, economic, emotional, or physical well-being.   This position utilizes casework skills to obtain information from consumers to access available resources. Caseworkers employ problem solving techniques, provide counseling to achieve service plan goals, monitor consumer behavior, interact with service provider and agencies, and ultimately exercise initiative and judgment to improve the lives of those they are serving. * * In order to be considered for the position, you must meet at least one (1) of the following requirements: 

  • Six (6) months of experience as a County Caseworker 1; or 
  • Successful completion of the County Social Casework Intern program; or 
  • A bachelor's degree with a social welfare major; or
  • A bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one (1) year of - professional social casework experience in a public or private social services agency; or
    • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences.

Employee assigned to this title will be required to possess and maintain a valid and current motor vehicle operator's license. Must have an acceptable driving record. Personal vehicle required for County business, employee is eligible for mileage reimbursement.
