South Hills Movers, a safety-first company is hiring a full time Diesel Mechanic to join our Bethel Park location. Some experience is preferred, but not required.

Job Overview: Primarily responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines and vehicles on our various diesel trucks. They ensure that diesel-powered vehicles and equipment operate efficiently and safely.

Key Responsibilities:

Diagnosis and Repair:

• Conduct thorough inspections to diagnose issues with diesel engines and related components.
• Perform repairs and replacements on engines, transmissions, brakes, electrical systems, and other mechanical parts.
• Use diagnostic equipment and tools to troubleshoot problems effectively.

Maintenance:

• Perform routine maintenance tasks
• Inspect and service diesel engines according to manufacturer guidelines and maintenance schedules.
• Keep accurate records of maintenance and repairs performed.

Troubleshooting:

• Analyze symptoms and utilize technical knowledge to identify and resolve complex mechanical problems.
• Determine the root cause of malfunctions and implement appropriate solutions.
• Provide recommendations for preventive measures to avoid future issues.

Safety and Compliance:

• Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment.
• Ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards, such as emissions requirements and vehicle safety standards.
• Conduct inspections to verify that vehicles meet regulatory standards

Teamwork:

• Collaborate with other mechanics and technicians to complete tasks efficiently.
• Share knowledge and expertise to support continuous learning and development within the team.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a diesel mechanic or in a related field.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment.
• Knowledge of diesel engine systems, including fuel injection, cooling, and exhaust systems.
• Familiarity with diesel engine technology and advancements.
• Attention to detail and the ability to follow technical manuals and specifications.
• Physical stamina and dexterity to perform manual tasks in various weather conditions.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Certification or formal training in diesel mechanics is preferred but not always required.
