PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

To successfully provide children with a nurturing, safe and healthy environment while educating staff and parents through the developmental milestones.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Knowledgeable in the Developmental Milestones from birth through 4 years old.

Knowledgeable in the Michigan Department of Education Early Childhood Standards

Group children with their primary caregiver.

Staff inform the office when supplies are needed for: art, sensory, gloves, wipes, and cleaning supplies.

Oversee the day-to-day operations of the classroom.

Communicate with all parents on the development of their child.

Makes sure the room is equipped with age-appropriate equipment and organized for a quality child development program.

Develops weekly lesson plans, which are age-appropriate, including: sensory, stories and music, art, science, math, small and large motor stimulating learning in developmental areas, physical, social, emotional, and intellectual.

Posts any allergies

Post a current list of types of infant's formula/breast milk

Oversee all caregivers and is responsible for making sure the best interests of all the children are being met.

Follows the Bay City Public Schools Early Childhood Centers Employee Handbook.

Follows all Licensing Rules for Child Care Centers through the State of Michigan Department of Human Services.

Knowledgeable in the Bay City Public Schools Early Childhood Centers Program Guide and Health Policies and Procedures and can share the information with parents and staff.

Have current Adult and Pediatric CPR/AED and First Aid certification.

Follow the proper OSHA procedures for blood-borne pathogens including diaper procedures.

Participate in mandatory continuing education staff meetings so to improve and expand on their knowledge.

Staff have knowledge of all emergency procedures and practice them routinely.

Arrive to work on time, organized, prepared and ready to meet the children's needs.

Staff limit their conversations to child friendly, respectful conversations

Staff maintains professional attitudes in their demeanor and in their personal relationships while on the job.

Staff contributes to joint responsibilities.

Staff is patient with children, interacting in a positive manner at the children's level while engaging in play.

Staff greets parents, children, visitors, and other staff in a friendly and pleasant manner. Note any pertinent information or instructions.

Staff keeps an open communication with the parents that builds mutual understanding and greater consistency for children.

Staff maintains constant communication with the Facilitator/Early Childhood Director/Assistant Early Childhood Facilitator to keep her informed of daily occurrences.

Staff shares ideas and accepts suggestion to help contribute to the total program.

Staff consistently respond to infant's needs for food or comfort, this enabling the children to develop trust.

Infants are praised for their accomplishments and helped to feel increasingly competent.

Staff respect infants' curiosity about each other. At the same time, adults help to ensure that children treat each other gently.

Staff send daily notes home to inform the parents of the child's day.

Each caregiver is primarily responsible for taking care of three children. This would include all their daily needs including feeding, sleeping, changing diapers, encouraging, and guiding the children through the
