Sandia National Laboratories Intern - Neutron Tube Value Stream - Business Undergraduate Year-Round in Albuquerque, New Mexico

What Your Job Will Be Like:

We are seeking a Year Round - Business Undergraduate Intern in The Neutron Tube Value Stream (Org. 7562). Our team is seeking a Production Planning Undergraduate student intern. Responsibilities include working with various production operations and the product development organizations to develop and implement material requirements planning (MRP) activities to support new product development builds, internal production builds and external customer delivery schedules. Using MRP tools and techniques the planners ensures the availability and flow of raw materials to our customers and our production floors. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, monitoring planned/open orders, establishing/managing safety stock levels, ensuring the accuracy of MRP planning parameters (lead-times, yields, etc.), forecasting material demand, completing what-if analysis, establishing/monitoring materials budget and releasing work to the production floor to ensure schedules are being met. The planner monitors, communicates, and reports to management the status of raw and processed materials; proactively identifies issues that have the potential to impact the production build plan or the product development schedules, and works with appropriate personnel including technical and engineering staff, quality assurance personnel, procurement, and development product realization teams to mitigate risk and implement recovery plans as required.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Work with various production operations and product development organizations to develop execute material requirements planning activities to support new product development builds, internal production builds and external customer delivery schedules

  • Use material requirement's planning (MRP) tools and techniques

  • Ensure availability and flow of raw materials

  • Evaluate planned/open orders, release planned order to procurement, establish/manage stock levels, ensure accuracy of MRP planning parameter (lead-times, etc.), forecast material demand, execute what-if analysis and manage budget

  • Oversee, communicate, and report to management the status of processed/raw materials; proactively identify issues that have the potential to impact the production build plan or the product development schedules, and work with appropriate personnel to mitigate risk and implement recovery plans as required

Salary Range:

Our pay structure is based on earned credit hours, classification, and degree level. Your pay rate will be determined during the hire process and included in your offer package. Qualifications We Require:

You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements:

  • Currently attending and enrolled full time in a related accredited undergraduate program

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0

  • Ability to work up to 25 hours per week during the academic year, and up to 40 hours per week during the summer

  • U.S. citizenship

Qualifications We Desire:

  • Pursuing an undergraduate degree in Operations Management, Project Management, Business Analytics, General Management, or other related degree from an accredited school.

  • Experience working in manufacturing environment with knowledge of industry standard Manufacturing Resources Planning (MRP) system and related business practices.

  • Understanding of Lean Six Sigma concepts, methods, and tools (visual pull signals, flow, kanbans, standard work processes, etc.) and experience in the application of the tools toward continuous improvement.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and ability to work effectively in diverse team environments.

  • Demonstrated leadership and/or project management skills.

  • Evidence of high academic achievement.

Security Clearance:
